Slit assemblies are spring loaded and are compressed by external manipulators. Tantalum slit material is attached to copper frames which are water-cooled. Horizontal slits are electrically isolated.

Faraday cup and suppressor are mounted behind the slits. The cup is water-cooled, electrically isolated, and is attached to a pneumatic manipulator.
